Special Considerations in Assessing Teaching Effectiveness with Regard to Meeting the Needs of English Language Learners and Special Education Students

Beyond the fact that SED is requiring that all administrators who wish to be certified as “lead evaluators” be able to demonstrate skill and understanding in assessing teachers with regard to their instruction of English language learners and students with disabilities, you will want to attend one of these two sessions for the pleasure of interacting with Drs. Joan Daly-Lewis and Andrea Honigsfeld, as they pool their expertise to provide a targeted set of research-based strategies that can help to successfully engage ELLs and students with disabilities.  Andrea will be providing a whirlwind immersion in the theory and practice of working with these populations, and Joan will be introducing and offering guided practice in the use of a standards-based observation protocol that will enrich your repertoire of responses to teachers as you help them reflect on their teaching and learning.  Participants will leave with an enhanced skill set for looking at and responding to teaching episodes that include ELLs and students with disabilites.

Whether you come to comply with SED regulations, or come for the professional stimulation, be sure to attend!

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource

Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and

other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching

practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
