School offers diabetes screening for students

Middle-school students at a Philadelphia school recently were screened for type 2 diabetes and learned about the disease as part of a program through the Penn Rodebaugh Diabetes Center. Officials say the prevalence of childhood obesity shows it is important to teach students how to prevent type 2 diabetes, which was once thought of as a disease for adults.
