I am pleased to inform you that I've been awarded a $30,000 grant award from the Motorola Solutions Foundation to launch a Saturday MathAPP Academy for students in grades 6-9.   Here is the press release that went out yesterday, and here is the project website  where you can direct your students to fill out the application. We can only accept 50 students across all Long Island schools! So I anticipate that it will be a highly competitive process.

We are looking to work with students who have high interest in STEM to help them use math to create APPS that can help solve a problem in their community. The online application is due January 17th and we will post the finalists on the project website the week of January 20th. The academy will begin on Saturday February 1.
Any assistance you can provide to help spread the word is appreciated!

Happy Holidays!

Roberto

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource

Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and

other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching

practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
