The answer is simple: illiteracy. The answer is phonics works; all the other methods don’t. What's amazing is our self-appointed experts have been so brilliant at keeping this scam going. Here is a recent episode from Let's Fix Education, my podcast.

BACKGROUND. I've been writing about education for many years. In the first 10 years I figured out the schools were full of really stupid ideas. Another 10 years let me conclude that the ideas perhaps were not stupid so much as devious and criminal. People subverting the country by the oblique device of making children dumber and sleepier.

I had to work my way backward through history. In 1931 the education establishment was strong enough to stage a real Pearl Harbor. They made sight-words the official method of the US schools. And they did everything possible to eliminate phonics. Where did they get this confidence? I'll tell you.... In 1919 the Communist International  was formed to spread communism throughout the world. I didn't realize how ambitious and huge this action was. Thousands of people came to this country in order to infiltrate the media, education, foundations, cultural institutions, publishers, and anything else influential.  John Dewey had created a beachhead for such action. But he was probably a devout socialist, not a devout communist. The people coming in 1921 were the real thing. They swarmed the country. Think of army ants waving little red flags. They were already in our politics at the state and local levels by 1922. Think of that. So the big truth is the Communists have waged a 100 year war against the US.
