Podcast Series Shares Lessons on Building Principal Pipelines

Podcast Series Shares Lessons on Building Principal Pipelines

What does it take to build a strong pipeline of effective school leaders? To begin with,

says outgoing New York City Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña, districts should

"invest in your best."

Fariña shares this and more practical nuggets for districts, states, universities and

others in a conversation with The Wallace Foundation's Director of Education

Leadership Jody Spiro. Their conversation marks the inaugural episode of our six-

part series, The Principal Pipeline podcast

This week, Farina and Spiro dig in to the key components from the pipeline and offer advice for attracting and retaining strong school leaders. Then, over the coming

weeks, we'll bring you in-depth conversations with others who are implementing

principal pipelines in their states and districts. We'll help these practitioners share

their firsthand experiences, featuring lessons on how to develop a coherent system

of training, hire and support novice principals on the job, and build a pool of strong candidates to lead schools.

New episodes will be released every other Wednesday. You can listen to them on

our site, where you'll also find more information about each show or download them

at iTunes, Google Play, or Stitcher. And if you like what you hear, please feel free to

rate the episode, so others can find it more easily.

We look forward to sharing The Principal Pipeline podcast with you over the next

several weeks and would welcome your thoughts on the series. Feel free to email us

at editorialservices@wallacefoundation.org or follow (@WallaceFdn) on Twitter to

join the ongoing conversation.

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource

Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and

other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching

practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
