"Opiate Evolution to the Perfect Storm"
Opiate/Heroin Epidemic
.
A Presentation by Detective Pamela Stark from the Nassau County Police Department
A recent study conducted by the US Department of Health and Human Services (NCHS March 2015), "Drug Poisoning Deaths Involving Heroin in the United States - 2000-2013")  has reported its data from the National Vital Statistics System (Mortality).
The study, conducted by Holly Hedegaard, MD, MSPH, Li-Hui Chen, MS, PhD, and Margaret Warner, PhD has disclosed findings related to rapidly growing number of deaths involving heroin. The statistics are deeply disturbing and highly tragic.
  • The rate of death involving heroin has almost tripled since 2010.
  • Young males, ages 25-44 are dying at a rate 4xs that of young women.
  • In young women the rates of heroin deaths have begun to steadily rise.
  • White males (age 18 to 44) and African American males (ages 45 to 64) have the highest death rates.
  • The problem of increasing heroin deaths is nationwide.
Please join COPAY as we welcome Detective Stark. One person is dying daily on Long Island due to heroin/opiates. Find out what is happening in our area and how to better protect the safety of your family.

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource

Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and

other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching

practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
