Meet the Master Teachers

The NYS Master Teacher Program network consists of outstanding teachers recognized for their dedication to providing the most innovative STEM education to their students, their commitment to professional growth, and their enthusiasm for sharing their successful practices with colleagues in their schools, districts, and regions. Click on the region to read short bios about the exceptionally talented and experienced STEM teachers in the network.

The statewide network is comprised of Master Teachers currently in the four-year program as well as nearly 400 Master Teachers Emeritus. The designation Emeritus is given to those who successfully complete four years as NYS Master Teachers. Emeriti continue as vital participants in the NYS Master Teacher network, actively contributing to STEM educational initiatives, locally and statewide.

NYS Academy of Master Teachers

Academy of Master Teachers logoMaster Teachers Emeritus accepted into the NYS Academy of Master Teachers are a community of practitioner-scholars dedicated to elevating the teaching profession and supporting pre- and in-service teachers throughout New York State. Main areas of focus include 1) providing professional support for the implementation of the P-12 NYS Science Learning Standards; 2) P-20 partnerships that support teacher preparation programs across NYS; 3) a review of current STEM education research including the relationship between access to advanced STEM courses and pursuit of STEM studies in higher ed; and 4) a review of STEM certification requirements for those seeking dual certification.

NYS Master Teachers who successfully complete their four-year fellowship are eligible for membership in the Academy. The NYS Academy is supported by the State University of New York, and partners with SUNY, NYSED and other statewide teacher professional development organizations to help address statewide issues.

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource

Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and

other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching

practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
