A Network Connecting School Leaders From Around The Globe
On October 21st, the New York State Education Department will launch an online survey that will allow New Yorkers to provide detailed feedback on the State’s English Language Arts (ELA)/Literacy and Math Common Core Learning Standards for pre-kindergarten through grade 12. Teachers, administrators, school board members, parents, the business community, and anyone with an interest in the future of our schools should participate in the review.
The survey, which will be found at www.NYSED.gov when it goes live on the 21st, will allow respondents to review and comment on any ELA and math standard for any grade level.
The results of the survey will help inform changes made to the standards. There is also a resource page on the NYSED website with more information about the current learning standards and the survey. Please take a look at the resources and share them with your community.
The survey will be completed by the end of 2015. Then, an advisory group – made up of stakeholders, particularly teachers and school administrators – will review the survey results and recommendations and present suggested changes to the standards.
This is a great opportunity to help improve the standards and provide all our students the best possible education.

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource
Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and
other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching
practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
