New Google Maps Feature to Explore Outer Space

October 18, 2017
Google Maps has made it possible for you to explore the moons and several other planets right from the comfort of your couch. You can now discover and explore the secrets of each of the featured planets and moons , 12 in total and include  Pluto, Venus, Titan, Mimas, Mars, Moon, Lapetus and many more. For extra fun, ‘ try zooming out from the Earth until you're in space!’

This project has been made possible through the millions of pictures recorded and sent back to Earth from the spacecraft Cassini that was launched into the space some twenty years ago. During its mission, Cassini recorded and sent nearly half a million pictures back to Earth, allowing scientists to reconstruct these distant worlds in unprecedented detail. Now you can visit these places—along with many other planets and moons—in Google Maps right from your computer.'
