More City Principals Sign Letter Protesting Evaluation System

All of the political talk in the last week about negotiations over a state teacher evaluation system seems to be having some impact: More principals are putting their name to a letter protesting the state’s use of students’ test scores to evaluate educators.

In the past few days, the number of signatures on the online lettersurpassed 1,300, with more names coming from city principals. There are 4,511 principals in New York listed by the state.

Here are the latest figures:

TOTAL 1,318 (up 40 from a week ago)

New York City 181

Long Island 506

Westchester County 115

Erie County 60

Rockland County 37

Monroe County 24
