Magazine Says Vanderbilt, Kansas Best For Special Education

By

For aspiring special education teachers, Vanderbilt University and the University of Kansas are the places to be, according to new rankings from U.S. News & World Report.

The two schools’ tied for first place in the magazine’s annual graduate school ranking of special education programs released Tuesday.

Other programs making the top 10 include the University of Oregon, the University of Florida, the University of Texas-Austin and the University of Virginia.

Special education is one of several graduate school tracks ranked by U.S. News for the 2013 edition of its annual Best Graduate Schools book. Other rankings cover degree programs in everything from business to law, education, engineering and medicine.

This is not the first time that special education programs at Vanderbilt and Kansas have come out on top. Just last year, Science Watch found that researchers at the two universities were the most prolific when it came to getting their work published in journals on topics related to educating students with disabilities.
