Long Island students opt out of Common Core state exam

At least 64,785 students on Long Island have opted out of taking Common Core state tests in English Language Arts during the week of April 13, 2015, according to data supplied by 100 individual school districts. Here are the details, which we hope to update as more districts report. Where map or table is blank, that district did not respond to request for information or refused to give figures. The Rockville Centre eligible student figure is based on a Newsday calculation. Here is a story about the students opting out. Data posted as of 7 p.m., April 16, 2015.
