For the past four years the LGBTeach Forum has taken place at Jericho Schools.  It stemmed from emotions after the rash of suicides of LGBTQ youth in 2010.  Year one we had approximately 80 educators from across Long Island gather for what was essentially a LGBTQ awareness training; inclusive language, ways to respond to anti-LGBTQ language, and tools to tackle the homophobia, transphobia, gender-bias, and heterosexism embedded in the institution of education.  Over the past four years the forum grew to over 250 educators and last year included 13 workshops, an inspiring keynote speaker, and a transgender singer-songwriter-activist.

Due to the growth of the forum, this year's event on November 6th will be moving to SUNY Old Westbury.

This year's keynote speaker is Kevin Jennings.  Jennings is the founder of GLSEN, the editor of One Teacher in Ten (in which Joey and I have a chapter included in this newest edition), and the executive director of the Arcus Foundation.

Below you will find information on how you can register, submit a proposal to facilitate a workshop, or make a financial contribution which will help offset the cost of this important day.

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource

Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and

other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching

practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
