Guidance Counselor, Attendance Officer or Dean of Discipline [or all three] in search of tenure track position for next year

Hello,

I have NYS certification as both a School Counselor and an Attendance Teacher. I have also held a position as head of security for a school district in which I functioned very much like a dean of discipline; working closely with building administration in all matters related to discipline and attendance. I currently work for Amityville UFSD as an Elementary School Counselor [full year leave replacement]. I absolutely love it here and feel that I have been very successful thus far, but in light of budget issues, my options here for next year seem rather bleak. I am seeking a tenure track position as a Guidance Counselor, Attendance Officer or Dean of Discipline.

I would also like to suggest a hybrid position encompassing the responsibilities of all three jobs. A position like this could save your district money in several ways: Obviously, having one person handle the responsibilities of what would normally be three separate jobs will save the expense of two salaries. Additionally, a good attendance officer can help bring money into the district by driving up attendance. In effect, the position can pay for itself. Finally, the Dean of Discipline position frees up building administrators to handle more pressing issues at a fraction of the salary of an Assistant Principal. I am more than up to this task and would appreciate any ideas, suggestions or job offers that you might have.

Thank You,

Tim Brower

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource

Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and

other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching

practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
