Google hosting virtual ed conference

Dive Brief:

  • Google is hosting a free, virtual conference for educators May 8-9, 2015.
  • Digital attendees can tune into over 100 sessions being led by everyone from students and teachers to researchers and Google leaders.
  • May 8 will be dedicated to discussions about "leading for the future," while May 9 will be centered around actual action steps for setting up one's classroom—specifically when it comes to infusing it with science, technology, engineering, and math skills.

Dive Insight:

Chromebooks are dominating the tablet market and districts across America have incorporated Google's Classroom LMS into their classrooms. It has integrated itself so well into the ed landscape that it sort of seems like a given that it would bring together all of the people it has worked with for one big education conference. Of course, a digital conference is also apropos. While it takes place during the school week, which may make it somewhat difficult for classroom teachers or administrators to "attend," one thought would be to participate as a school or classroom. Engaging students in conversations about their own education is critical for success.

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource

Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and

other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching

practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
