Please share this information on your list serves and with your colleagues.  This annual event is a phenomenal celebration of Public Education and has proven to be a rewarding experience for all who attend.  Please consider nominating someone who represents the ideals mentioned in the attached documents.  Anyone who participates, either within the school system or as part of the larger community, is eligible for nomination.

Dear Colleagues,

The Stony Brook University Chapter #1603 of Phi Delta Kappa International is sponsoring a “2014 Friends of Education” Award Night to recognize the commitment and effectiveness of outstanding educators, staff members, and community citizens throughout Nassau and Suffolk County.  Nominees for these awards may include anyone who is associated with your school district, regardless of position, that you believe makes a difference in the quality of the educational experience for students in your community.

Please review the attached nomination form.  As our Selection Committee will need time to carefully review the supporting materials submitted on behalf of each nominee, we ask that you return the completed form by March 25, 2104. Please keep in mind that the selection of honorees will be solely based upon the information contained in the nomination letters.

The “Friends of Education” Awards Dinner is planned for Friday, June 13, 2014 from

5:15 – 8:30 p.m. at the Wang Center on the campus of the State University of New York at Stony Brook.  The individual honoree will be the guest of PDK@SBU. The cost for dinner for each additional guest is $49.00.  Both you and the nominee will be informed about their selection for this award in sufficient time for guests to be invited.  RSVP information will be included in the congratulations letter.

The evening will include the presentation of awards to the selected nominees as well as a keynote speech on a topic of special relevance to the educational community.

PDK at Stony Brook is dedicated to Leadership, Research, and Service.  Thank you in advance for your valuable contribution to acknowledging these traits in those whom you nominate as “Friends of Education.”

We look forward to sharing this spectacular evening with you.

Sincerely

Geraldine Sullivan Keck

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource

Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and

other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching

practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
