SUMMARY:
Recognizing the need to address the impact of high stakes testing, academic failures, bullying, harassment and substance abuse, New York schools are implementing evidence-based social and emotional learning programs to insure that students have the skills they need to be successful in school, work, and life. Funds for one-day educator training and materials are now available from the Lions Club International Foundation. This program is being used in over 80 countries and has been translated into more than 30 languages.
Any public or private school may apply for funds to train teachers, administrators and other school employees. The program includes a carefully sequenced elementary, middle school and high school curriculum and helpful guidelines for parent meetings, service learning strategies and a school climate committee. Lessons can be presented by any staff member through flexible implementation options that maximize benefits with a minimal time commitment.
Lions Quest Program Benefits:
Attend a Full Day Workshop to Preview the Program and Take Home a Curriculum
Long Island Schools interested in previewing the Lions Quest program may register up to 6 educators per school building. Administrators, teachers, counselors, social workers, psychologists and school board members are encouraged to attend. Please send one administrator with your group. Cost to the school is $75.00 per participant and includes one full-day training and a grade-level curriculum. Regular cost is $215 per person. The LICF Community Partnership Grant will cover the remaining cost for your training. Should your school then decide to implement the program, you will be invited to apply for additional grant funds to train staff needed for full implementation at a grade level, building, or district-wide. Grant funds are limited and are dispersed on a first-come, first served basis.

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource
Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and
other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching
practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
