Hi,

We had a very successful community event at our local public library, here in Lawrence, Kansas last year. You can learn more at www.seesawfilmfest.com

This was produced by the University of Kansas Department of Special Education doctoral student organization, led by Maggie Beneke (2nd year), and myself (1st year). It was a free event and involved multiple partnerships with our campus organizations and our community service providers and schools.

The focus of this 3-day event was to raise awareness on what it means to grow up in the 21st century, with a specific look at youth and children who experience exclusion across a variety of often intersecting contexts - from school, to home, to their own local communities.

We'd love to hear what you think of the film-line-up, the website, and the idea as a whole.

Thank you.
