Educator to identify innovative ESL programs for use in India on a large scale

AAM Foundation (www.AAMF.org) is a US IRS approved charity working towards poverty alleviation through skill development. Our efforts are currently focused on low income neighborhoods in New Delhi, India.

The foundation offers FREE English Classes (and is adding soft skill development opportunities) for students of all ages. The program is open to all and enrollment is on a first come first served basis. The program is completely free and the students never have to pay anything or buy anything.

We currently have about 2,500 students regularly attending classes at our 25 different locations. We are expanding to 100 locations and expect to have over 10,000 students per year enrolled in our learning centers.

Each student comes in for a one hour forty five minutes class daily, six days a week. We currently teach using a combination of computer game based learning, workbooks, group discussions and role play. The current program is designed to be delivered over a one year period.

We also use Class room jeopardy to build interest. (www.jeopardy.com/classroomjeopardy/)

Our challenge: Given the circumstances, it is not possible to get a large number of well qualified and motivated teachers to work in the locations we serve.

We need to further develop effective techniques for teaching ESL using facilitators that have limited expertise and capabilities themselves.

Your Task: Identify successful ideas and techniques being used in ESL programs that would lend themselves to use in our project

Advise us about ways to enhance our curriculum and make it more efficient and attractive for the students.

Travel expenses: We will provide air line ticket and arrange your stay in India as required so you can visit our locations in New Delhi and see the project first hand.

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource

Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and

other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching

practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
