Keys to Creating Engaging Learning Environments

Keynote: Keys to Creating Engaging Learning Environments

  Presented by Candi McKay

This session will explore key factors for leaders that empower teachers to become the architects of their professional learning, creating cultures where “getting better” applies to everyone in the system. This session provides leaders with a greater understanding of how to support teachers in planning for student engagement, and what it takes for students to move beyond compliance and become active participants in their own learning.

Keynote: Creating an Engaging Learning Environment that Builds Executive Function

Presented by Dan Gross

Engaging learning environments put students in charge of learning, embed choice, and are designed for students to solve open-ended problems. Building executive function skills, including self-regulation skills, is critical for students to have higher achievement in these engaging student-driven, problem-based learning environments. These executive function skills are foundational to college and career readiness skills, the 4 Cs, and to prepare our students to be successful leaders. We will explore how instructional leaders can inspire, support, and challenge their team members to continue to make instructional and curricular shifts necessary to build these engaging learning environments.

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource

Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and

other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching

practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
