A study published in JAMA Pediatrics found that physical activity was associated with significant reductions in depressive symptoms among children and adolescents, compared with a control condition, according to a systematic review and meta-analysis of 21 studies. Researchers noted that greater reductions in depressive symptoms were derived from participants older than age 13 and with a mental illness and/or depression diagnosis based on secondary analysis.
