From Larry Ferlazzo

Eigo.ai that uses both Artificial Intelligence and plain old “human” intelligence to provide lessons to Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced English Language Learners.

I learned about it from Nik Peachey, and you can read what he wrote about it in his email newsletter.

The lessons follow a sequence of showing a video with captions, then reading the script with comprehension questions, followed by a speaking exercise that uses AI to evaluate the users pronunciation, and then finishing up with some review questions.

One of the aspects I particularly like about the site is that the lessons for each level are the “same,” but modified for the language level. In other words, the articles are on the same topic and just use increasing complex text.

Even though the site is accessible to “Beginners,” it’s definitely not appropriate for Newcomers. A site like Speakable makes more sense for learners with very little background in English.
