9 Education Substacks Every Teacher Should Follow

If you’re not on Substack yet, you’re missing where the best educator conversations are happening.

Twitter is a wasteland. Facebook groups are drowning in spam. Instagram is... well, it’s Instagram.

Meanwhile, educators are quietly building something different on Substack: real conversations, practical resources, and community without the algorithm chaos.

Here’s the thing: Substack is still early for education. The space isn’t crowded yet. If you join now, you can actually connect with the writers you follow. Comment on their posts. Get replies. Build relationships with educators doing the same work you are.

In a few years? It’ll probably feel like every other platform. But right now, it’s the closest thing we have to the old-school teacher blog era.

How Substack works (30-second version):

It’s free to join. You subscribe to newsletters you like. The writters posts come straight to your email. Most education Substacks are free, some have optional paid tiers. No algorithm deciding what you see. No ads. Just the stuff you signed up for.

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource

Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and

other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching

practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
