Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District), who has been a leader in the
fight to secure Long Island's fair share of state education aid, has been
selected as the Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Education.  The
selection will help Senator Flanagan expand his role in the fight to protect
the educational system of both Long Island and the entire State of New York.
In this new position, Senator Flanagan will have a clearer and more
effective voice in shaping the educational goals of our state and the future
of our children.

The goal of this Conference is to provide a VOICE for all CTE Teachers.  We
urge ALL CTE area teachers (Business, Family & Consumer Science and
Technology) to come together for this conference to hear Senator Flanagan
speak and to voice our concerns about the importance of CTE within our
educational system in NY State.  Our jobs depend upon having our voices
heard loudly and clearly by NY State. Get involved TODAY!

Come share your experiences in the classroom and beyond! We hope that by
having Senator Flanagan understand what Career and Technical Education is,
he will be able to use his position as a leader on the Education committee
to save our programs and keep our students in some of the most important
classes that they will take during high school.  By participating you will
return to your classrooms energized and ready to empower the 21st Century
learners!

WHY ALL CTE TEACHERS ON LONG ISLAND SHOULD ATTEND:

THE FUTURE OF CTE IS IN JEOPARDY!

*          Support. Find out the ways that we can band together to support
our CTE programs in this time of academic focus, but financial restraints.

*          Information, information, information. Keep current with
legislation that directly impacts CTE programs. It's better to be proactive!
We need to show how important our courses are to a comprehensive education.
