“A RESPONSE TO TIGER MOM: HOW SHOULD WE BE EDUCATING AND RAISING OUR CHILDREN IN TODAY’S WORLD?”
You are invited to a symposium sponsored by the College of Education
and Information Sciences and the School of Continuing Education at
The C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University
March 25, 2011
1:30 - 4:00 p.m.
Humanities Hall, Room 119
This interactive panel discussion, which will include panelists from public schools as well as universities, provides a follow-up to the Race to Nowhere symposium held at C.W. Post in December. Prompted in part by the release of “Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother” (Amy Chua’s provocative memoir about her own family culture), we are now ready for our next conversation about approaches to educating and parenting in today’s world. Please join us for this most worthwhile and timely discussion for change, which we want YOU, the audience, to be involved in along with us.
RSVP by March 4 to Dr. Arnold Dodge, Chair, Department of Educational Leadership and Administration, Long Island University/C.W. Post Campus atarnold.dodge@liu.edu. Those who attended the Race to Nowhere forum are encouraged to bring a guest (or two). Please make sure to note the number of people attending in your email.

Mentors.net - a Professional Development Resource
Mentors.net was founded in 1995 as a professional development resource for school administrators leading new teacher induction programs. It soon evolved into a destination where both new and student teachers could reflect on their teaching experiences. Now, nearly thirty years later, Mentors.net has taken on a new direction—serving as a platform for beginning teachers, preservice educators, and
other professionals to share their insights and experiences from the early years of teaching, with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence. We invite you to contribute by sharing your experiences in the form of a journal article, story, reflection, or timely tips, especially on how you incorporate AI into your teaching
practice. Submissions may range from a 500-word personal reflection to a 2,000-word article with formal citations.
