21st Century Technology Integration in the Classroom

SSIII: August 6-9, 2012 (M-Th); 8:30 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.

Through hands-on computer application, participants will discover how free tools from Microsoft and Google can transform the teaching and learning process by transitioning learners from consumers of information to creators of content. Shift the role of the teacher from presenter to facilitator of learning. The workshop will assist participants to model and design learning experiences that will lead students to build knowledge and demonstrate an understanding of information-using technology as a tool. Learning will focus on the essential qualities of instructional strategies, authentic learning activities, problems to be solved, interest- based lesson design, and real-world contexts. Participants that successfully complete this workshop will receive a certificate recognizing them as a Microsoft Innovative Educator (MIE). Vincent Interrante. Elementary/Middle School Teacher, Mineola School District. Mr. Interrante holds an MS in

Elementary Education from Long Island University and serves as a master trainer in Partners for Learning and Microsoft’s Innovative Educators programs.
