I think that parents should be held responsible if they knowingly allow their children to handle guns, bring guns with them at any time, or ignore signs of planned murder.

Parents need to take responsibility and be actively involved in their child's life. Children need rules and guidance. If they don't get it...they may choose to do the wrong thing.

In addition to a monetary fine, they should be required to take classes WITH their children to deter such action/behavior in the future. Or perform community service WITH their children. Both of these will make them take the laws more seriously.

Parents are not always able to control what their child does. I have witnessed wonderful parents who have had a child commit crimes not due to poor parenting.

Parents can be required to respond to treatment for the child who acts criminally.

Parents need to be responsible. I dealt with this many times as a Principal. Many shootings etc could have been avoided if parents were responsible and did their job. Increase programs for mental health and provide them.

Parents need to be held accountable for their minor children.

Parents should be held responsible if there is gross negligence, such as ready access to unlocked weapons. Sometimes, circumstances may be beyond parental control.
