Please leave a specific comment & I will respond. I am a consultant who is intersted in improving classroom instruction. My most recent publication is Creating Smart Schools - The Education Instructional Coaching Model. It offers a coaching model, the Education Instructional Coaching Model (EICM) as a process for creating effective schools. EICM presents an inquiry based approach to school reform. It is comprised of two components, a set of reform strategies that include: Socratic Questioning, Differentiated Instruction, Accountable Talk, Formative Assessment, Learning Stations, & Cooperative Learning Groups. Instructional Coaching is the other component. The model is also based on a set of core beliefs that include: The major goal of educators is to inspire students to become critical thinkers and independent learners. Educators must create environments of small learning communities where the major portion of instruction is devoted to problem solving. Educators must create student-directed lessons that inspire students to increase their enjoyment of good questions and help them work out their own understanding of "static" knowledge like mathematics, science, and reading. Education reform is comprehensive and involves evry member of the educational community and Instructional coaching is the cornerstone for improving classroom instructionand requires mutual respect between the coach and the collaborating teacher.
