Dr. Scott Robinson

The purpose of this webinar is to introduce Invitational Listening and illustrate the concept with a story and an analysis of the story. This webinar is open to all including K-12 teachers, counselors, administrators, students, post-secondary faculty, and others who seek to improve their communication skills.

Invitational Listening combines the perceptual tradition from Invitational Education (Purkey et al., 2020) along with elements of cognitive, affective, and behavioral domains (Wolvin & Coakley, 2000) and critical listening linking emotional and cognitive dimensions of communication (Worthington & Fitch-Hauser, 2018). The webinar begins with a definition of Invitational Listening followed by an illustrative story. Audience members will be invited to analyze the story through the lens of Invitational Listening.
