Everyone should know the Berys Dixon story....Schoolteacher does what she’s told until one day she realizes she’s been lying to her parents. The method she was teaching does not work. She does her own research, finds her own answers, and for the first time helps most of her children to read.

This woman is so down-to-earth, so straightforward, so honest (I think we can assume) that even a professor of education at Harvard will be reluctant to argue with her. She’s been there and done it, unlike the professor.

We can save the public schools only when children start to read in the first grade. Who is stopping this?
