A Network Connecting School Leaders From Around The Globe
Angela Duckworth , CASBS Consulting Scholar 2014-15, and David Yeager, CASBS Fellow 2014-15, talk about "The Psychology of Effort" at the 60th Anniversary of CASBS (CASBS Symposium Series) on March 5th 2015. Psychologists David Yeager (University of Texas at Austin) and Angela Duckworth (University of Pennsylvania) analyze the reasons that some students benefit more from schooling than others even when they have the same cognitive abilities. They describe the importance of diligent effort for expertise development and long term goal pursuit, and uncover the surprising psychological barriers that undermine students effort over time; barriers that can be removed.
