Public School Chaos -- Inevitable? Or indulged?

"PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM CREATES MILLIONS OF LITTLE MONSTERS"

Who is helped by a permissive school environment? Certainly not the teachers. They are frazzled and on the way to being burned out.

What about the students themselves? Is there Progressive theory which argues that children should be allowed to run wild? That punishment is always inappropriate? That too much discipline is bad for children?

K-12 today is a lot like New York City under Mayor Dinkins. Everything was going to hell. Then came Mayor Giuliani who said that you have to correct the small problems in order to prevent the big ones.

This article argues that education is not helped by too much chaos and confusion. Nothing is helped. Kids know how to act in a restaurant, movie theater, church, or library. Schools should develop equivalent expectations
