Thanks for getting back to me. I really appreciate your response. No need to worry about the video software. I am purchasing the software that requires that only I have it - the person I am conferencing with does not need it.
I just checked it out and it would be late for you, but if you had access to the computer at about 10pm, I could be ready at 8am (roughly the earliest I could get a group together - maybe 7:30 here which would be 9:30 pm). But if your school is anything like mine when I was teaching in China, I had no pm access.
If it is doable, we can always work out logistics. Let me know if you are up for it. I am in a 100% Spanish-speaking ELL newcomers high school here in New York. I have explained to my students for the past few years how fluent in English my mainland Chinese students were. They need to hear it from others for it to sink in.
I have taught English in China before and now teach English in NYC to a 100% Spanish-speaking ELL population. I am in the process of setting up video conferencing with several successful people that would resonate with our students. Would you be interested? I tried Skyping, but the quality is poor for recording the conferences. I would have the program and no purchase of any software is necessary on your part - just a desire to help create a sense of urgency in our students. (Also, now that I have some Chinese under my belt, Japanese may be my next language!)
