Comments from the 7/7/19 Poll - Working During Summer

A common misconception amongst non-educators is that educators enjoy the summer off.  How many weeks this summer will you NOT be working either on your regular job in education or in a paid job other than your regular position or going for training/credits and/or professional development?

Answer Respondent
Even when I am on "vacation" I receive school-related phone calls, messages, and emails that need to be answered in a timely fashion. Anonymous
As a principal, I work all summer. Anonymous
This idea has been around for too many years. If it's so nice, go get your degree and have summers off too. Anonymous
Haha. Summers off. That’s a good one. Anonymous
In my 18 years of teaching I have only not worked 3 summers...this summer I am working in a limited capacity...but it also is a time for rejuvenating, learning, brainstorming, revisions, and creativity without the million other tasks that have to be completed during the school year. It is also a time for me to catch up on life. Anonymous
