If a student asked you who you favor in the election for President, would you tell them?
Answer | Respondent |

Why not? It would not be a facile yes or no response. I would, of course, offer an explanation. A teachable moment, right? | Anonymous |
No comment. | Anonymous |
I would explain my stance and research. | Anonymous |
This is a question that would require a lesson in political science. I donât believe who Iâm voting for should be information I share with a student. However, I can speak to the student about the pros and cons of voting for a Democratic candidate or Republican candidate to allow the student to formulate an opinion that he/she feels will benefit society. | joelleday@optonline.net |
In the past, I would not have shared this information. However, our current president is a very serious threat to our democracy and the principles upon which this country was founded. Now, more than ever in our lifetime, we must stand up against a divisive leader who acts only in his best interests -- not in the interest of the people. | Anonymous |
And I’d provide a rationale for my decision | Anonymous |
Nor would I tell a neighbor, a colleague, a cousin. | Anonymous |
I would explain how everyone has an opinion and the right to vote for whom they choose. Elections are private. | Anonymous |
I'd ask them who they favor and why, say "That's an interesting perspective, I might agree" and leave it at that. | Anonymous |
I teach in college so it’s a little different than if I was in public K12. But in our current environment, I still might say even if I was still in K12. However, frankly, nobody needs to ask because they already know. | Anonymous |
Working with elementary students is my reason for no. If I was working with older students I might. Important to focus on the fact that working together for the benefit of all is the goal. | Anonymous |
Since that is a personal preference and belief, I would answer by saying such and the important part of an election day is for everyone to cast a vote. We are lucky to live in a country where we have the freedom to vote for whomever we choose and make a difference. | Anonymous |
It would depend on conditions surrounding the question I believe my choice would be “politically correct” to many political points of view can create unwelcome controversy | Anonymous |
I’d take the opportunity to begin a conversation about government and politics....our rights and responsibilities; ultimately whom I favor may be divulged as a natural outgrowth of our discussion. | Anonymous |
