Retired from NYC school system. Currently a volunteer in a Florida public school during the winter months. I taught elementary school and was a guidance counselor in elementary schools and middle schools for 35 years. I am a literacy advocate and do storytelling as a means to get children excited about reading. I deplore the testing mania that is the current rage. It will run its course but many children will be hurt in the process.
