Many people are very creative when it comes to choosing a name in SL. You'll have a lot of freedom choosing your first name but you will select your last name from a list provided by Linden Lab. Many people will argue that your name in SL should be wildly different from your real name but many of us choose a name similar to our real world name (some might even argue that they keep their names similar for "brand recognition").
