I am amazed at how blatant the attacks on public education have become. Is it perfect, no, nothing is. However, what is overlooked is that we continue to educate students from all over the world, with various learning needs and we do so regardless of parent wealth or influence. We have become the old toy that has been discarded for the shiny new one. What they fail to see is that no matter how good they look, or how many they open, they only represent about 10% of the students who need to be serviced in our state. Someone once likened public education to alchemy. We turn other substances to gold. Charters claim to alchemists but if you only gather what you think is gold, and keep what you can prove is gold then no alchemy is required. What does that make them in reality?

A little hope. NCLB revision now takes out eval by test scores. A way to get your voice heard
