Carmen,

I know there are a number of districts piloting iPads this year.  The two biggest deployments that come to mind are: Roslyn and Mineola.  At Wantagh, we have a pilot involving 10 students and 2 teachers.  Your best bet may be to reach out to Nassau BOCES (Matt Hejna) as he may be able to poll the districts.  Perhaps do the same for Eastern/Western Suffolk BOCES as well.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me how I can find out how many districts on Long Island have been or will be using iPads in the classroom?  (Even if it's as a limited pilot program)   Thank you all.

The home-brew video below looks promising...maybe Apple will take a hint!

It would be nice to see native AirPlay-based mirroring and support baked right into Keynote and other apps for iPad-driven presentations (sans the cable andthe computer) - Steve Jobs supposedly says "it's coming" in an email to a prospective customer a few months back:

Is anyone having a major rollout of IPads to teachers and students. We have gotten a grant and will be rolling out over 3000 iPads to Title 1 Middle Schools. Because the iPad2 comes with camera, our CIO said that they are going to disable the cameras. I would like to make a connections to any school that is using iPads in their school.

The "Post-PC Era"?

With the recent announcement of Apple's iPad 2, CEO Steve Jobs took the stage to reignite Apple's "Post-PC" vision - one where hardware and technology become transparent and it's all about user creativity and the content.  Others have also discussed the ongoing implication this could have in our schools.

I found these two articles worth sharing as we continue to discover more educational uses for tablet and mobile devices:
