SUMMARY:The Mentoring Matters Conference 2014
DESCRIPTION:In partnership with Long Island University, the Mentoring
Partnership of Long Island is delighted to announce the program for th
e 10th Annual Mentoring Matters Conference, which will take place on T
hursday, March 13, 2014 on the beautiful campus of LIU/Post in Brookvi
lle.\n \nThis one of a kind day of learning offers Educators, Youth D
evelopment Professionals and Mentoring Program Providers an opportunit
y to learn and hear from local and national experts on topics related
to positive youth development and quality-based mentoring initiatives
for both formal and informal mentoring initiatives. \n \nProfessiona
ls who attend receive timely, relevant and compelling information that
can help them strengthen services and programs aimed to support child
ren and youth, while also learning from and interacting with their cou
nterparts from other schools and social service agencies in the tri-st
ate area.\n \nThere is a dedicated track for people who are serving a
s Mentors (either formal or informal/natural mentoring) and these indi
viduals greatly benefit from information and activities that are aimed
at enhancing their knowledge base about positive youth engagement. Me
ntors can expect to explore and develop skills to address important so
cial and interpersonal issues which influence relationship development
.\n \n(Please Note) There is a unique second day of the conference (F
riday, March 14, 2014), which is exclusively for Mentees and Peer Ment
ors who are involved in mentoring. This “YOUTH Day” is an incredib
ly positive social and educational learning opportunity for Middle Sch
ool and High School aged youth. The Youth Day is FREE, however,PRE-REG
ISTRATION is required as there is capacity seating. Anyone interested
in bringing a group of Middle or High School aged youth to this confer
ence must first complete appropriate pre-registration forms no later t
 han January 29th.\n \nBecause the Mentoring Partnership’s mission i
s to help create and sustain high-quality mentoring initiatives, the f
ee for this conference is set very low so as not to prohibit professio
nals from attending. The registration fee is $50.00 for the profession
al development day and details about how to register can be found on p
age (7) of the brochure.\n \nInquiries about this conference or the w
ork of the Mentoring Partnership can also be directed to Miss. Franca
