 cription:This course will explore the cognitive skills that students w
 ill require in the future global learning environment, such as critica
 l thinking, creativity and innovation, scientific thinking and reasoni
 ng, transfer of learning between subjects and technological alliances.
   Brain imaging studies have facilitated new understanding of the bra
 in's neural systems and how they relate to memory, attention, learning
  and problem solving. This course will also focus on the applications 
 of neuroscience research to teaching and learning. Through lecture, di
 scussion and hands-on activities students will investigate approaches 
 for addressing the academic, social, and emotional needs of students.Â
   This course will communicate and promote a burgeoning educational re
 search base that marries cognitive science with education.\nInstructor
 : Dr. Susan Goetz Zwirn.  Associate Professor, Hofstra University. 
  Dr. Zwirn has researched and written extensively on the integration o
 f art in curriculum and has trained and supervised art educators at al
 l grade levels.  Currently, she is doing extensive research in brain
