Professional Performance Review (APPR) as a Second Order Cha
nge Challenge:  Seven Leadership Responsibilities for Principals to E
mphasize           Why do change efforts often prove unsucc
essful?  Research by Robert Marzano (described in his book, “School
Leadership that Works”) points to the failure of school leaders to
adequately consider the complexity of a desired change initiative.
\n         On February 11, 2011, an old friend of
our group, Dr. Joan Daly-Lewis, will be joining us to examine professi
onal performance review as a “second order change.”  She will rev
iew with us seven leadership responsibilities that must be addressed i
n supporting any initiative that requires deep change.  This will NOT
be a review of the APPR legislation, but rather a timely examination
of the challenges we face in fostering a belief that shared examinatio
n of teaching practices can help us to produce exceptional results in
our schools.\n \nThis workshop is free for all 2010-11 NCESPA mem
