 es hands-on experiences in literacy, mathematics, science and social s
 tudies that equip elementary teachers to meet the requirements of the 
 Core Curriculum. Educators will explore methods and materials, knowled
 ge and skills, which will help the curriculum come alive for students 
 and teachers alike. The workshop supports students’ curiosity, scaff
 olds deeper understandings and promotes positive attitudes toward lear
 ning. By the end of the workshop, participants will acquire a portfoli
 o of activities in each of the curriculum areas. NOTE: For elementary 
 (K-6) educators only. Dr. Linda Davey. Associate Professor, Hofstra Un
 iversity. Dr. Davey is an expert in Early Childhood Education, is the 
 Director of the UPK collaboration between the Farmingdale SD and Hofst
 ra, and is widely published. Dr. Andrea Libresco. Associate Professor,
  Hofstra University. Dr. Libresco teaches social studies methods to\np
 re-and in-service teachers. She has written on the topics of standardi
 zed testing, exemplary elementary and secondary social studies teacher
 , children’s literature, civic engagement, and women’s history. Dr
 . Irene Plonczak. Associate Professor, Hofstra University. Current res
 earch includes the impact of outdoor classrooms and videoconferencing 
 in teacher education programs. Active in Hofstra STEM education progra
 mming. Dr. Sally Smith. Associate Professor, Hofstra University. Dr. S
 mith specializes in elementary level literacy and literature and has w
 ritten extensively on the effects of multicultural literature on under
 standing of self and others. Dr. Blidi Stemn. Associate Professor, Hof
 stra University. Dr. Stemn’s specialty is in elementary mathematics\
 n\n\neducation and his research interest covers problem solving, ethno
 mathematics, and the issues of culture and social justice in mathemati
