SUMMARY:Educators Wine and Cheese
DESCRIPTION:\n\nWe’re launching a ship of ideas and calling it From
STEM to STERN \nPlease join us for a Wine & Cheese Educators Recept
ion on Wednesday, October 5, 4:00 – 6:00  PM at the Maritime Ex
plorium, located in the historic Chandlery Building in Port Jefferson.
We are launching a new program that will be of interest to you.\n \n
\n\nIs your staff wondering how to transition to the New York State Co
re Standards in English/language arts and literacy?  Are you grapplin
g with how to change from teaching the “old’ math standards to the
organizing principles of the new common core?  Are you discussing ho
w the newly released K–12 Science Education Framework fits in? And n
ow that New York State no longer tests elementary and middle school so
cial studies, are you debating how to keep its important themes alive
in the curriculum?\nWe’ve been thinking about the same issues and we
have a response: From STEM to STERN, a unique student field trip and
teacher professional development program, merged into one!\nThe Marit
ime Explorium provides cutting edge exhibits and curriculum. Our goal
is to help students and teachers become partners in exploring academic
concepts that meet state objectives, go beyond state tests, and are f
undamental to understanding the ways in which our world works.\nOur di
stinctive curriculum is problem-based -- while students learn concept
s at deeper levels with transferable skills, teachers learn new instru
ctional strategies aligned with the common core standards. Trips to t
he museum are regionally accessible, affordable, and transformative fo
r all ages.\nLet us show you what we mean. Please join us on October 5
and invite your administrators and teachers. Kindly RSVP to Admin@Ma
 ritimeExplorium.org before September 30\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
