 rt of Hofstra University’s hosting of the 2nd Presidential Debate t
 his October, Hofstra is presenting the  second Democracy in Performa
 nce event on Monday, October 15, 2012, the day before the Presidentia
 l Debate.\nI am writing to invite you to “Save the Date,” book b
 uses, and reserve seats for your students to attend this free event at

 card invitation, mailed to your principal.\nDemocracy in Performance 
 is a series of 13 programs (some 55 minutes long, some 85 minutes long
 ) that feature fully costumed professional living history scholar/perf
 ormers and our best student performers in a variety of themed events t
 hat evoke today’s political issues by recreating pivotal moments in 
 American History.  \nAt every event, students will be invited to ask 
 questions of our performers, who will answer in character.\nDemocracy 
 in Performance starts at 9:00 a.m. and middle and high school targete
 d events end at 1:45 p.m.  Four events take place indoors; the other 
 events will be held in large festival tents (with side flaps in case o
 f rain).  Students should dress appropriately and bring a bag lunch (
 which can be eaten in any outdoor venue).  Guides will take student g
 roups to each venue.  A middle and high school art exhibit entitled 
 “Social Realism 2012” will also be on display.  A copy of the sc
