 across their buildings that support the common core standards.Â \n\nDu
 ring this workshop, panel members will address the following questions
 :Â \n\n\nWhy and how do the standards provide support for teachers and
  students?Â \nWhy must all staff members support critical thinking and
  literacy standards in our schools?Â \nHow can we raise rigor in all s
 ubjects for all students?Â \nHow can we, as administrators and curricu
 lum leaders support our teachers and students with the standards?Â \n\
 n\nWorkshop attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions, offe
 r solutions, and develop plans for their own districts and schools.Â Â
  \nÂ \nVictor Jaccarino is recognized throughout New York State as an 
 expert on the Common Core State Standards. Â Victor has presented nume
 rous workshops on literacy, and best practices in both the ELA and con
 tent area classrooms, conducting workshops throughout the state and co
 untry. Â Victor is a retired Chair of English from the Herricks Public
  School System, an adjunct professor of Education at Hofstra Universit
 y, a Past President of both the Long Island Language Arts Council and 
 the New York State English Council, has sat on the Board of the Confer
 ence on English Leadership, and chaired the NCTE convention in New Yor
 k City. He has worked closely with and been a team leader for the NYSE
 D department, writing and reviewing both the New York State Standards 
 and the Common Core Learning Standards. In addition, he has worked on 
 a number of Regents initiatives on standards based instruction and ass
 essment projects. Victor is a member of the Eastern Suffolk BOCES Netw
