 \n At 7pm on October 27, Operation SPLASH (Stop Polluting Littering a
 nd Save Harbors ) will host the first-ever screening of the new docume
 ntary-short, “Standing Against the Tide, the Story of Operation SPLA
 SH.” This eye-opening documentary will appropriately debut at the 
 Freeport Museum on the Nautical Mile.\n \nThe film was written, produ
 ced, directed and edited by Hofstra University students Corey Protin a
 nd Alexandra Faul. This 15-minute movie documents the 22-year history 
 of Operation SPLASH and their never-ending battle against polluted Lon
 g Island waterways. “Working on this project has opened my eyes to 
 Long Island’s large environmental issues which I think every resid
 ent should know about,\" said Alexandra Faul. Both students will be g
 raduating this May with a Bachelor degrees in video, TV, and film.\n 
 \nRob Weltner, president of Operation SPLASH said “We're very fortun
 ate to have so many unselfish, hard-working volunteers in Operation SP
 LASH. And for their efforts to be captured in this wonderful short fil
 m by Corey and Alexandra, it reminds us all that there are good people
  doing great things for our environment…because they care.\"\n \nSp
 ecial guests, elected officials and local dignitaries have been invite
 d to attend the free Premiere Party, and the general public is welcome
  to attend as well. The event will begin at 7pm and includes live musi
 c by \"Bobby Blues and his All-Star Review,\" environmental displays 
 and light refreshments. The Freeport Museum is located at 202 Woodclef

 .\n \nFounded in Freeport in 1990, Operation SPLASH is a 2,500 memb
 er, grassroots, all-volunteer organization dedicated to improving the 
 quality of the waterways along Long Island’s South Shore. Througho
 ut its 22 year history, SPLASH volunteers have removed more than 1,0
 00,000 pounds of trash from local waterways while working on other p
 rojects to protect and preserve the fragile South Shore estuaries. Op
 en membership meetings are held at the Freeport Recreation Center on t
